We pride ourselves in giving back to the community and spend large amounts of funds on corporate social investment. Such projects are The Fishing Academy, situated in the Port Elizabeth Harbour and Talhado Children’s Haven set up in 1999 in St Francis Bay, which is home to many of the squid fisherman and their families.
Talhados Children’s Haven
Talhado Children's Haven was started to address the needs of disadvantaged children in the area if St Francis Bay. Pre-primary education and a safe place to play, under adult care, were needed. Talhado Children's Haven now provides both for over 400 children, many of whom are victims of HIV/Aids, molestation, neglect and substance abuse.
The Siyabloa Training Academy
Talhado Fishing Enterprises (PTY) LTD was instrumental in setting up and getting the Siyabola Training Academy off the ground. Since inception, Siyabloa Training Academy (STA) has presented and co-ordinated training for the fishing industry, their families and other communities in need and vulnerable groups. The vision of Siyabola is the foster skills excellence.
Siyaloba is a non profit community based training centre, which has shown it’s commitment to the fishers and all communities in need, through various outreach programmes. The training is very portable and it has been taken it to the most remote areas, where poverty is the most rampant.
